Rob Burden shines brightly!

Congratulations to Rob Burden, one of CH&Co Group’s HR business partners, who won the Rising Star Award at the HR in Hospitality Awards 2017.

The 24-year-old, dedicated HR professional has achieved a lot in his career so far and had a great impact on the business since joining in March 2016. The judges described Rob’s entry as ‘impressive’ with a clear passion for HR, and spotlighted him as ‘one to look out for’ in the future. And, they’re not wrong.

As HR business partner, Rob provides support for 1900 CH&Co Group employees working across 76 sites in London, including corporate city offices and well-known visitor attractions such as ZSL London Zoo and the Tower of London. He provides on the ground training and advice, as well as strategic planning to generate positive results.

The CIPD Post Graduate, who is on the CH&Co Group leadership programme, is also a TUPE specialist, proficient in talent spotting and succession planning, and has harnessed technology to enhance recruitment initiatives.

In addition to the ‘day job’, Rob champions the industry as a great career option through his work with the CIPD’s Enterprise Advisor Scheme, which gives schools guidance on creating work experience programmes; his role as a Springboard Ambassador; his involvement with The Princes Trust’s Get Hired! events, which have seen him place four candidates in stable employment; and as a committee member for HR in Hospitality.

Alison Gilbert, Group HR Director, CH&Co Group said: “Huge congratulations to Rob! He absolutely deserves this award. To have his level of responsibility and thrive under it is a huge achievement for someone of his age, as is his CIPD Post Graduate qualification.  He’s introduced successful HR initiatives that we’ve gone on to adopt across the group, and the work that he does outside of his day job is testament to his dedication to HR and the hospitality industry. He certainly has a bright future ahead!”

Rob received his award at the HR in Hospitality Awards event on Friday 29 September. HR in Hospitality is a networking group for members of the HR profession within the hospitality industry.
