CH&CO shortlisted for Food Made Good Awards 2019
CH&CO has been shortlisted for the Feed People Well award at the Food Made Good Awards 2019, the Sustainable Restaurant Association’s annual industry leading accolades for the most progressive purveyors of food and drink.
The Feed People Well award is designed to recognise the foodservice businesses doing the most to support their customers to make choices good for their health and the health of their families when eating out.
CH&CO has been shortlisted for its work in schools, educating both children and adults in the long-term benefits of a healthy balanced diet and helping them to make the right food choices.
From inner city schools in the heart of Liverpool, where in some cases the school meal can be the only hot meal of the day, to some of the most prestigious independent schools in the country, the principles remain the same – to teach children and their families to eat well.
This involves providing freshly cooked, nutritionally balanced meals, as well as giving children the knowledge of where food comes from, the health benefits of individual ingredients, how to prepare them and how to cook. This is achieved through a series of projects and activities that include kitchen gardens, educational assemblies, tasting tables, family cookery classes, parent tasters and engaging educational marketing campaigns.
Emma Hill, Group Head of Food, Health, Safety & Environment, said: “We’re thrilled to be shortlisted for the Feed People Well award. It’s fantastic recognition of the important work we do across our education business, including state and independent schools. We inspire a love of good food in children and adults, whatever age or background. Through the intrinsically nutritious food we prepare and the interactive way in which we serve and talk about it, we educate the whole community – from pupils, parents and families to school employees – on the impact food choices have on our bodies, wellbeing and the planet.”
The Feed People Well Award will be presented at a special ceremony on 5 November at Troxy in East London. Good luck to the team!
The Food Made Good Awards recognise restaurants and foodservice operators, as well as the businesses supplying them, whose extraordinary accomplishments in the last year are helping diners use the power of their appetites wisely.
